Oregon certifies Natural Hair Care as its own field of practice under ORS ch. 690: applicants complete a free board-issued self-study training module and pass a walk-in written exam — no school-hour requirement. Oregon has no umbrella cosmetology license; Hair Design certification (the closest equivalent) requires 1,450 school hours.
