The former NRS 644A.365 requirement to document 250 hours was removed by SB 249 (2023), so no school hours are mandated for braiders, while full cosmetologists need 1,600 hours (NRS 644A.300).

Braiding exemptions and certificates typically cover natural hair work: braiding, twisting, locking, weaving, and extensions using natural or synthetic hair. They do NOT cover chemical services (relaxers, color), cutting, or treatments — those sit under the full cosmetology license everywhere.
